Summer City Style
When the temperature rises in London, this signifies the perfect time for a bit of a wardrobe revamp. Whether it’s the middle of the week or the weekend, there is so much in the shops or a click away that starts to wink at you, willing you to take the opportunity to reinvigorate your look.
With another heat wave on the horizon, we invite you to consider investing in some key pieces to carry you through, taking the over-heated tube and freezing ‘AC’ office in your stride before heading to the park or a rooftop bar for a sundowner…
A crisp white shirt really does work year-round. Invest in a sleeveless and loosely-fitted one for summer. Collarless tunic styles, off-the shoulder or tie-waists all work well over culottes or knee-length shorts. Keep it cotton.
Sleeveless jackets and waistcoats are practical and smart too. Throw them on to smarten up a semi-casual dress, and to go from the office straight to dinner or drinks in the evening.
A pair of block heel shoes will go well with trousers and skirts/dresses. They are comfortable so your feet won't ache at the end of the day, and they work well for weddings and events too. You won't miss that heel-sinking feeling...
Invest in a perfect sundress early on in the season. Striped, floral or plain and brightly coloured – the high streets have so many beautiful ones to choose from. One with sleeves will work perfectly for the office too.
Splash out on a couple of summer scarves. If you are a black/navy girl at heart and you generally stick to your colour-guns in the warmer months too, this will add the pop of colour that the season really requires!
Search for some new sunglasses, and have a bit of fun with them! Us Brits don’t get to wear them that often, so when we do we can afford to be a little daring…
A summer hat, such as a panama, boater or wide-brimmed floppy straw hat, will become your best friend. You’ll wonder what you did before you had it, to jazz up an everyday outfit and to protect you from the sun.
