GENERAL CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Your hat is made from the finest quality rabbit fur felt, a material which is naturally breathable and water repellent and therefore suitable for most types of weather. It can only be spot cleaned, and cannot be dry cleaned or machine washed.

Here are a few tips on how to look after it…

PUTTING IT ONTo put on or remove your hat, hold the brim and handle the crown as little as possible. To avoid misshaping the brim, do not pull too hard on the brim when putting the hat on and instead push the hat on from the back of the crown.
STORING ITStore your hat on a hat stand or upside down on its crown (on a clean surface or in a hat box) in order to maintain its shape
IN THE RAINYou can wear your hat in light rain for short periods of time, but it is not designed to be rainproof and must not become saturated. The hats are made from 100% rabbit fur felt which is both breathable and naturally water repellent, but is not waterproof. If your hat does get wet, you should follow our care instructions here. If you have any questions at all about how to look after your hat, just give us a call or drop us an email.
ENOUGH OF THE FLUFFAt regular intervals, use a piece of sticky tape or a small lint roller to gently remove any fluff from the hat being careful to avoid contact with the hat band.
NAUGHTY MARKSTo remove water marks or grease marks hold the hat briefly over steam and brush the felt with a soft bristled brush following the direction of the fur and applying light pressure. It is easy to do this over a kettle but should be done with due care.

SPECIFIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR HAT BANDS

Leather Hat Bands

We use the finest grain lamb’s leather which is specially coated to make it as waterproof and durable as possible.
Here are a few tips on how to keep the leather band looking good as new:
1. If the band gets wet, wipe off the excess water with a cloth and dry the hat dry upside down on its crown in a cool, well-aired area.
2. To remove any marks or creases on the leather, hold the band over a little bit of steam and gently smooth the leather with your finger along the line of the band.

 Feathers

Feathers are delicate and need to be given a little bit of TLC to keep them looking good.
Here are a few tips on how to look after them:
1. If the feathers get wet, shake off the excess water and allow them to dry naturally in a cool, well-aired area.
2. To realign the feathers, or if they are looking a bit tired, hold the band over a little bit of steam and gently smooth the feathers with your finger along the line of the band and in the direction of the feather. This should plump them up and relign the fibres in the feather to keep them looking smooth.
